TITLE: Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient operation of the Company’s payroll functions including payroll tax, accounting and Kronos support. This position will manage the preparation and distribution of the hourly and salaried, weekly, semi-monthly and special incentive payrolls, oversee the preparation of multi-state and federal payroll tax payments, supervise the preparation and distribution of W-2 forms and multi-state forms, and maintain employee records and information to ensure legal compliance. The Payroll Manager will evaluate business processes on a regular basis, develop, implement and recommend policies and procedures designed to improve payroll-related processes, system interfaces and data reporting and ensure timely communication of changes to payroll policies, procedures and regulations. This includes payroll-related processes and systems within the payroll department itself, as well as processes and systems upstream of the payroll department (i.e. within the various plant timekeeping systems) as well as downstream of the payroll department (i.e. within the various division and corporate accounting departments). This position will also serve as a resource for the personal and professional development of the payroll team, resolve escalated customer service issues and complex problems utilizing expertise in payroll policies and laws, oversee systems modifications, upgrades, testing and designing and monitor interaction between the payroll team and their internal customers. In addition, this position will provide analysis or work on projects assigned by their manager.
Position requirements:
5-10 years of progressively more complex roles in various accounting, payroll and HR operations with a knowledge of payroll practices and HRIS systems; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field from accredited university; significant systems experience with Kronos and Infinium software packages and a proven track record of process improvement. The incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with all employee levels across multiple business units and functional areas.
Responsibilities:
a) 50% – Task/Responsibility: Monitor the day to day operations; provide guidance and oversight to ensure accurate and timely payroll preparation and distribution to employees and taxing authorities.
b) 30% – Task/Responsibility: Evaluate business practices, policies and procedures; review issue logs and metric evaluation to help define and prioritize tasks. Constantly work to improve processes and knowledge of automation and reporting data out of the various payroll-related computer systems. This includes processes and systems within the payroll department itself, as well as processes and systems upstream of the payroll department (i.e. within the various plant timekeeping systems) as well as downstream of the payroll department (i.e. within the various division and corporate accounting departments).
